Logging in to Onshape for the first time and not sure where to start? Whether you’re a student, engineer, hobbyist, or just CAD-curious, you’re in the right place! This step-by-step guide will walk you through the login process, make it fun, and keep things super simple.

TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read)

If you want to log in to Onshape, go to www.onshape.com and click the “Sign In” button. Use your email and password (or Google/Apple login). Don’t have an account? Click “Create Account” and follow the prompts. Easy as pie!

What is Onshape?

Before we jump in, let’s quickly explain what Onshape is.

Onshape is a cloud-based computer-aided design (CAD) platform. That means you don’t have to install anything. You can design and model things like robots, mechanical parts, or even a fancy phone stand… right in your browser!

It runs on laptops, tablets, or even your phone. As long as you’ve got internet, you’re good to go. 🛠️

Step-by-Step: How to Log In to Onshape

Step 1: Go to the Onshape Website

Open your favorite browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge – whatever you love!)

Then type this into the address bar:

https://www.onshape.com

Press Enter. Boom! You’re on the homepage.

Step 2: Click “Sign In”

On the upper-right corner of the homepage, you’ll see a button that says “Sign In”.

Click that. It’ll take you to the login page.

Step 3: Enter Your Email and Password

Here, you’ll see a couple of fields:

  • Email Address
  • Password

Just type in the email you used when you signed up for Onshape, and your password.

Then click the friendly blue “Sign In” button.

If everything matches, you’re in! 🎉

Optional: Sign In with Google or Apple

If you created your Onshape account using a Google or Apple ID, no problem!

Just click “Sign in with Google” or “Sign in with Apple” on the login page.

Follow those prompts and boom—welcome to Onshape!

Step 4: Welcome to Your Onshape Dashboard

If your login was successful, you’ll land on your Onshape Dashboard.

This is your control room. From here, you can:

  • Create new CAD documents
  • View your past projects
  • Invite collaborators
  • Join teams or organizations

Take a deep breath and click “Create” if you’re ready to roll. You did it!

Wait! What If I Don’t Have an Account?

No worries. Let’s get you set up.

Step 1: Click “Sign In” First

Seems weird, but start by clicking “Sign In” even if you don’t have an account yet.

Step 2: Click “Create an Account”

Look just below the login form for a link that says “Create an account”. Click it. 😊

Step 3: Fill In Your Information

You’ll be asked for details like:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your desired password

You may also have to select if you’re using Onshape for:

  • Education (school)
  • Hobby/personal use
  • Commercial use (requires special plans)

Pick what fits you and submit the form.

Step 4: Check Your Email

Onshape will send a confirmation email. 📨

Click the link in that email to activate your account.

Now you’re ready to log in anytime!

Tips for a Smooth Login

  • Bookmark the login page. Saves time when you come back later!
  • Use strong passwords. Combine letters, numbers, capital letters, and special characters.
  • Keep your email updated. You’ll need it to reset your password if you ever forget it.

Oops! Something Went Wrong?

It happens to the best of us. Here’s what you can do.

Forgot Your Password?

On the login screen, click “Forgot password?” right below the password box.

Enter your email, and you’ll get a link to reset your password. Easy-peasy.

Didn’t Get a Confirmation Email?

Check your spam folder. Sometimes the internet plays tricks on us.

Still nothing? Try resending it from the signup page or contact Onshape support.

Double-Check Your Login Info

Make sure you didn’t mistype your email or password.

Tip: Passwords are case sensitive, so “Password123” is NOT the same as “password123”.

Can You Use Onshape Without Logging In?

Short answer: Nope. You need an account to use Onshape.

But don’t panic. It’s easy and free to get started, especially if you’re a student!

With an account, you can save, share, and organize all of your CAD work in the cloud 💻☁️

Mobile or Desktop? You Choose!

Onshape works on:

  • Windows
  • Mac
  • Linux
  • Android (via app)
  • iOS (via app)

They even have a mobile app! Go to your app store and search “Onshape”. You can log in there too.
